HENRY TUFNELL has praised staff and pupils at Stepaside C.P. School after visiting the school to mark World Book Day.
The MP said it was “fantastic” to see the school’s facilities and the positive atmosphere among pupils and teachers following the school’s recent encouraging report from Estyn.
During the visit, Mr Tufnell met pupils dressed as their favourite book characters and spoke with staff about the work being done to create a supportive learning environment.
He said the school community should be proud of the “warm, welcoming and inspiring place to learn” that has been created for local children.
Mr Tufnell added that the enthusiasm of the pupils and the dedication of staff made it clear why Stepaside continues to be a vibrant place for young people to grow and develop.

We are delighted to share with you our ESTYN REPORT JUNE 2024 We are thrilled with the outcome of our Estyn inspection! The report recognises the many significant strengths of the school. I am proud of the hard work and dedication provided by our team, in creating a welcoming and nurturing environment which enables our pupils to make good progress whilst at Stepaside!
Dosbarth Barafundle completed their topic this term by holding their bake sale. Pupils worked very hard to plan and make their chosen recipe which had to include fruit! Supported by the staff they shopped, calculated expenditure and multiplied ingredients for their batches before they then prepared their stalls and created their masterpieces. Parents flocked to class on Thursday to see all their hard work and enjoy the ‘fruits’ of the pupils’ labour. thank you all for your support.

Pupils, Parents, Governors and Staff! We all had a great time and we raised over £1800 for the School. The School Sennedd members will be deciding what to spend the money on to help our pupils get the best opportunities to learn and grow.

We are very grateful to the Kilgetty and Begelly WI for their very kind donation of a buddy bench for our peace garden. It was a beautiful sunny morning, after all the rain, when we finally got to invite some of the WI ladies in to officially hand over the bench.
